Bílá Voda: Discover Culture, History and Trails

Cemetery, Remembrance and Pilgrimage

The cemetery of the nuns in Bílá Voda has been protected as a cultural heritage site since 2000. More than 700 nuns from many different orders and congregations are buried here. After the end of communist rule, the cemetery became an important place of pilgrimage and remembrance. This means that the focus here is not on a single building, but on a multifaceted chapter in the region’s religious and contemporary history.

Piarist History and Museum

The Piarist grammar school and college in Bílá Voda was the first Piarist college in Silesia. The Piarist seminary was also a centre for music concerts and theatre performances. The Museum of Isolation, Internment and Integration offers another way to explore the history of the town: one section of the exhibition is dedicated to the history of Bílá Voda, while another focuses on the internment of nuns during communist rule, which began on 28 September 1950. This makes it possible to trace education, culture and the political past through several documented topics.

Stations of the Cross and Educational Trail

The Sudeten Stations of the Cross begins at the end of the Bílá Voda district and ends at the Hauer Chapel. There are fourteen stations along the route. The Marianna-Oranžská nature and history educational trail complements it by presenting the life and work of Marianna Oranžská in the area of Bílá Voda and Złoty Stok. Most of the trail runs through the cadastral area of Bílá Voda. The Stations of the Cross follows a fixed route with a religious focus. The educational trail combines natural and historical topics and includes not only Bílá Voda but also Złoty Stok. Thus, an excursion can offer the religious character of the Stations of the Cross alongside the study of natural history and local history as distinct areas of focus.

Rocks and Special Experiences

Šafářová skála is a natural attraction in the form of a frost cliff and also a rock with a viewpoint. The Brosmannův festival duchovní hudby honours an important figure who studied philosophy in Bílá Voda in 1752–1753, worked there as a music teacher and returned to Bílá Voda in 1778–1787 as rector of the Piarist college and parish priest. Editions of the festival took place from 2011 to 2019 and from 2021 to 2025.
