Černá Voda – Rychlebské stezky, Nature and Culture

Černá Voda is a destination for visitors who want to combine cycling, distinctive granite landscapes, and culture. The starting point for the Rychlebské stezky is particularly straightforward: they begin and end in Černá Voda at the parking lot in front of the cultural centre by the church. This makes the town a starting point for an active stay, while a natural monument, castle ruins, and sacred buildings provide further highlights.

Cycling between Granite and Beech Forests

The seasonal Rychlebské stezky information centre in Černá Voda offers trail maps, bicycle and equipment rental, a Merida test centre, and a service area. For your planning, you will therefore find not only information about the routes there, but also specific bicycle-related services. The main panorama of Černá Voda is formed by the Sokolí vrch massif. Its terrain features granite blocks, rocky summits, flooded quarries, and deep beech forests. This creates a landscape in which the traces of stone quarrying and wooded heights stand closely side by side.

Nature Experiences with Different Routes

In the vicinity of Černá Voda lies Venušiny misky, a national nature monument protecting a distinctive granite formation. You can reach the viewpoint from Černá Voda via a green-marked hiking trail of approximately 4 km. The Rampa quarry, on the other hand, is reached by road in the direction of Žulová: leave Černá Voda, turn left, and drive past the food shop. The two directions therefore describe different ways of navigating – a marked hiking trail to a viewpoint and specific road directions to a quarry.

Castle Ruins, Church, and Chateau

The Kaltenštejn castle ruins lie immediately south of Černá Voda, in the surrounding area. The remains of buildings, fortifications, and a tower have been preserved. The Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary also stands in the town and is protected as a monument. It includes a surrounding wall and statues of Saint John the Evangelist and Our Lady of Sorrows. The church was built in 1787–1788 and became a parish church in 1843.

Another historic building is the late-Renaissance chateau in Černá Voda, which has been preserved to this day together with its chapel. It is not currently open to the public. The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands on the road to the settlement of Rokliny and dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The educational trail “Naučná stezka nejen pro handicapované u Černé Vody” is suitable for wheelchair users and parents with prams. Alongside the more active routes, this provides an option for an excursion that is easier to access. Another activity is offered by Ranch V Podhradí: visitors can take part in training with Western horses. Černá Voda can thus be explored according to different interests – from cycling and hiking through observing the landscape to history and horses.
