Štáblovice: Castle, Park and Historical Discoveries
Castle and Village Centre of Štáblovice
Located in the centre of the municipality, Štáblovice Castle was opened to the public after its reconstruction in 2021.
Church of St. Lawrence and Historical Evidence
Another important sight is the Church of St. Lawrence in Štáblovice. It was built in 1603 and preserves sandstone tombstones from the former Gothic church. These surviving tombstones give the church interior a special historical depth, as they point to an older church at the same location. Since 2006, the Church of St. Lawrence has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. This makes your visit one in which not only the year of construction but also the visible evidence of the history preceding the present building plays a role.
Castle Park, Walking Tour and Paths Through the Village
The castle includes a park with its own distinctive design character. A romantic gazebo surrounds the castle garden, which is laid out according to the ground plan of the original French garden. The castle park can be visited free of charge during the stated opening hours. Inside the castle, a single tour of the most representative rooms is offered. This fixed visiting format distinguishes the castle interior from the freely accessible park and helps you organise the cultural part of your day accordingly.
There are also specific opportunities for active exploration. A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Štáblovice. Cycling route 6221 Radegast Opava also passes through Štáblovice. Those wishing to incorporate the village into a longer tour on foot or by bicycle will thus find two differently oriented routes: the marked hiking trail is intended for exploring on foot, while the cycling route offers an opportunity to explore by bicycle.
Getting There and Finding Your Way Around
There are two stops available for bus travel. The Štáblovice, u křížku stop is served by line 241 on the Vítkov–Opava route and back, as well as by line 243 between Budišov nad Budišovkou and Opava and back. The Štáblovice, zámek stop is served by line 241. Depending on your route, you can therefore choose between a general stop and the stop at the castle.
The railway stop serving Štáblovice is located in the Štáblovický mlýn district on line 314 between Opava and Svobodné Heřmanice. From the village centre, it is approximately 3 km on foot along the blue-marked hiking trail. This approximate distance is useful for planning a journey by train; the route also connects the railway stop with the marked hiking trail through Štáblovice.
