Hlubočec
Hlubočec combines a distinctive landscape with quiet cultural traces and concrete opportunities for hiking, cycling and community activities. The village lies amid cultivated fields and extensive forest complexes of the Nízký Jeseník. This creates a rural character in which experiences of nature and individual local destinations are closely connected. Hlubočec is particularly interesting when choosing accommodation if you would like to combine your stay with landscapes, outdoor activities and regional discoveries.
Landscape between forest, fields and Hůrka
The 530-metre-high Hůrka hill rises north of Hlubočec. Its mobile phone and television transmitter makes it a prominent landscape feature and a clearly recognisable point in the surrounding area. Streams rise below Hůrka and flow through wooded valleys. The area around Hlubočec also belongs to the “Přírodní park Moravice” Nature Park. The landscape can therefore be understood not only as open farmland, but also as an interplay of forests and valleys.
The green-marked hiking trail enters the Setina valley by the chapel, passes Honův mlýn with its pond, and descends to an asphalt road leading to Hlubočec.
Chapel and local history
The Chapel of St John Paul is listed in Hlubočec as a monument and asset of local significance. Its history goes back to the site of a wooden chapel, in whose place the present building was erected. In 2013, Hlubočec celebrated the 120th anniversary of its consecration.
Cycling and activities in the area
The 15-kilometre cycle route No. 6141 “Údolím Raduňky” runs between Hradec nad Moravicí, the area near Skřipov, Hlubočec and Pustá Polom.
Another local point of interest is the Sportovní areál in Hlubočec. A building with an equipped kitchen and basic tableware can be rented there for up to 30 people. The complex also includes covered outdoor seating, changing rooms and sanitary facilities. In addition, the Sportovní areál offers rentable facilities: a tennis and nohejbal court with an artificial surface, a grass playing field and a fire-fighting sports track.
Traditions and community experiences
At the Dožínkové slavnosti held on 6 September 2025, a procession of agricultural and fire-fighting vehicles to the local Sportovní areál followed a mass in the chapel. The programme included traditional crafts, entertainment for children, brass-band and cimbalom music, as well as an evening dance. For families, this event example primarily offers an insight into the type of festival where children’s activities, music, crafts and local tradition come together. This refers to the programme in 2025, not to a statement about a future date.
