Hnevosice between Wooden Architecture and Protected Nature

Hnevosice combines wooden architecture, archaeological traces and protected nature. The parish church of St Peter and Paul, an immovable cultural monument, is at its centre. The Baroque wooden parish church was built in 1730 and restored in 1842. As the only wooden church in the Hlučínsko region, it holds a special place in the cultural part of your stay.

The Church of Christ the Good Shepherd also shapes the appearance of the village: it is a distinctive architectural landmark of Hněvošice and is visible from the surrounding area. The cemetery area with the Church of St Peter and Paul is freely accessible and allows you to view the monument in detail. Archaeology and Forest Landscapes in Hněvošický háj

Five visible burial mounds of an archaeological site lie in Hněvošický háj; they originally date from the Bronze Age and later contained Slavic graves from the period of the Great Moravian Empire. At the same time, the Hněvošický háj nature reserve protects a mosaic of oak-hornbeam forests and acid-loving oak forests, as well as significant plant and animal species of the Carpathian region. The combination of burial mounds, forest communities and animal and plant life gives the area several different themes for visitors.

The Hněvošický háj nature trail lies in the nature reserve of the same name between Hněvošice, Služovice and Oldřišov. It is approximately 3.5 km long and has seven information panels. Its length and stations provide a concrete basis if you would like to combine a walk with nature observation and regional history. Knowing the approximate length allows you to place the walk within an excursion and plan a leisurely pace for the route without assuming a fixed walking time. You can plan the route as a walk in its own right or as a nature-focused addition to the village’s historical sights.

Cycle Route and Other Regional Destinations

Cycle Route 6095 runs from the Pilszcz/Oldřišov border crossing via Oldřišov, Hněvošice and Vrbka to Svoboda. In Svoboda, it connects to Cycle Routes 552 Opava–Racibórz and 554 Prajzská cesta. Hněvošice is therefore part of a route connecting several villages and further cycling routes. The sequence of villages helps you place Hněvošice within a longer cycling tour with additional sections.
