Luboměř – Church, Nature and Living Village Traditions

Luboměř combines sacred history, experiences in nature and vibrant local traditions. Particularly impressive is the present-day Church of St. Lawrence, built in 1777: Its interior is designed in the late Baroque style, and the building was formerly a pilgrimage church. Luboměř therefore has a distinctive cultural focal point that can be easily combined with walks, nature observation and events.

St. Lawrence and the Chapel in Heltínov

The Church of St. Lawrence is interesting not only because of the year it was built. Christmas concerts have been held there for several years, meaning that this sacred site also plays a musical role in community life. Another cultural highlight can be found in Heltínov, a district of Luboměř. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity was added there in 1800. Its two interior walls feature depictions of the Stations of the Cross, with 14 stations in total. For visitors who enjoy discovering historic places along with manageable, distinctive details, this district therefore offers a separate theme alongside the Church of St. Lawrence.

Water, Nature Park and Unusual Rock Formations

The Něčínský potok stream flows along the western edge of Luboměř’s cadastral area. Together with other bodies of water, it forms the source area of the Oder River. This geographical feature gives the landscape a clear regional context without reducing Luboměř to a single excursion destination. Heltínov is also located in the western part of the Oderské vrchy Nature Park.

A green-marked hiking trail runs through Luboměř. Anyone wishing to combine exercise with exploring the area during their stay can use this trail as a specific starting point for planning their day. Another unusual natural feature is Biskupova skála. It was probably originally used for quarrying slate, which was then used for the roofs of local residents’ houses. In a small cave in Biskupova skála, beautiful ice stalactites can form through seepage, especially in spring and under favorable climatic conditions. The reference to these conditions is important: This natural phenomenon cannot be expected on every visit or in every season.

Sport and Community Life at Na drahách

The Na drahách leisure complex complements the cultural and natural themes with sporting and community activities. It offers facilities for playing football, volleyball and tennis. Football tournaments, fire brigade sports competitions, dance events, pilgrimages and community festivals are also held on the grounds. Thus, alongside its historic buildings, Luboměř also reveals a side shaped by recurring local gatherings.

A particularly prominent event is the annual major fire brigade sports competition. It takes place on the church fair Sunday around August 10, the feast day of St. Lawrence. For travel planning, this date is especially interesting if you want to get to know the area not merely as a backdrop for an excursion, but also in connection with its own traditions.

If you would like to extend your search to other places, you can also find Příbor, Heřmánky, Vrchy, Heřmanice U Oder, Hostašovice, Ženklava, Mošnov and Odry.
