One of the most striking natural sites is Prameny Zrzávky, a protected natural monument in the cadastral area of Hostašovice. The name refers to a group of springs with different geological characteristics. One spring contains ferrous sulfate, while another contains hydrogen sulfide. In addition, a third, separate hydrogen sulfide spring is located 300 meters away. These differences also make the site interesting for families who want to discover specific natural details along the way, without limiting the outing to simply observing the landscape.

Prameny Zrzávky can be reached by car without access restrictions; the site is located 250 meters from the road. Another extraordinary phenomenon can be found at the Jaštěrka spring on Trojačka Mountain: after a few meters, the spring splits into two branches, each flowing toward a different sea. This geographical phenomenon is called a bifurcation.

History, crafts and regional tradition

The cultural history of Hostašovice can also be seen in individual surviving landmarks. The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built in 1850 and consecrated on October 17 of the same year. A sandstone cross adds to these historical reference points. It was made in 1876 by the stonemason Josef Leidi for 100 gulden. The precise dates and the mention of the craftsman give the structures a specific historical context.

The local identity also includes a culinary tradition that remains vibrant to this day: buckwheat is still milled in Hostašovice, and people from the wider surrounding area also buy it there. In addition to its springs and historical landmarks, the village therefore has a tangible connection to regional processing and everyday food culture.

Nature trail and cycling route for different days

The František Palacký Nature Trail has 21 to 22 stations with information boards. Its subject matter includes nature, history, geology and the landscape of Podbeskydí.

Those who want to explore Hostašovice by bicycle can use the “Koleje” cycling route, an explicitly easy route with only slight climbs. It runs from Nový Jičín to Hostašovice railway station and is also suitable for families with children.
