Hiking, Circular Trails and a Historical Cycling Connection

Blue- and green-marked KČT hiking trails run through Radvanec. One route runs from the brewery in Cvikov to the Lípák brewery in Česká Lípa, following the blue-marked hiking trail through Radvanec. This makes the village part of a longer connection between the two breweries.

The Radvanecký turistický okruh is also designated as a local tourist circular trail. The name describes its status as a local circular trail; it does not imply any other specific characteristics. The Radvanec–Nový Bor cycle path opened on November 6, 2023. Radvanec is also located on the old trade route to Zittau. The original name of the village is Rodowitz.

Waterside Places for Different Day-Trip Ideas

The Radvanecký rybník pond, with a swimming area and campsite, lies within the cadastral area of the municipality of Radvanec. It is accessible from Sloup v Čechách. Another waterside place is located near the Havraní skály rocks: there, an artificial water basin serves as an outdoor summer swimming pool. These two entries differ in their specific classification and should be considered separately when planning a day trip.

Sandstone Reliefs and Baroque Traces

One of the notable cultural monuments is the relief Ukřižování. It is carved into a sandstone block and belongs to the tradition of Baroque popular piety depicting the Passion of Christ. Another Radvanec Calvary is a polychrome sandstone relief beside a half-timbered house by the stream. Its coloring corresponds to the Baroque period.

Radvanec is also home to the Kaplička, a small brick-built chapel in Baroque forms. It probably dates from the late 18th century. A second rock relief of Christ is located immediately behind Radvanec, on a slope beside the former road. The individual monuments therefore lie in different historical and spatial contexts: from the sandstone block and the chapel to the relief beside the former road.

Together with the original name Rodowitz, the various reliefs and the Kaplička, it offers an approach to Radvanec that goes beyond individual photo opportunities. Those traveling with different age groups can thus incorporate nature, water and history themes into their selection and structure their stay according to the experiences each person prefers.
