The Plesná Exhibition presents Czech-Bavarian wartime and post-war history. The story of Adolf Penzel, the son of Plesná’s last German mayor, provides a personal perspective. Through his life story, the exhibition illustrates the coexistence of people of two nationalities in the Czech-German border region. It also explores the area’s shared geological past. In this way, political and social history is connected with a view of the development of the landscape.

Art and creative activities at the TOSTA Gallery

The TOSTA Gallery hosts temporary exhibitions of visual art, adding a contemporary accent to the historical themes. For trips with children, the gallery also offers workshops for children. Churches in Plesná and Lomnička

The Protestant church in Plesná is a pseudo-Renaissance building with a tower, erected in 1847. Inside is a Baroque altar with paintings of Christ on the Mount of Olives and the Last Supper. It is also historically significant because it was the first Protestant church in the Cheb District to have its own parish. The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Plesná dates from the 18th century. Originally Baroque, it was remodelled in the Empire style in the 19th century. The two churches in Plesná thus offer different approaches to the town’s history: one through architectural form and the altar, the other through remodelling and changes in style. In Lomnička, the Church of the Sacred Heart recalls a different architectural and religious history: it was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1895.

To the Jewish Cemetery in Lomnička

The Jewish cemetery in Lomnička was established in 1822. From Svobody Square in Plesná, it can be reached by following the yellow hiking trail markings towards Lomnička. The educational trail in Lomnička also leads to the Jewish forest cemetery. This makes it possible to combine an engagement with regional history with clearly described route guidance, without viewing the cemetery merely as an individual historical monument.

An unusual natural destination

The Radonka Spring is considered the most radioactive surface spring outlet in the Czech Republic. This characteristic gives the natural-history aspect of the trip a special focus and complements the historical, religious and artistic themes with a geological discovery.
