Discover Chodau

Chodau is an interesting destination for anyone who wants to combine water activities, exercise and urban history. Around Bílá voda, there are nature and leisure opportunities, while churches, a gallery and a traditional event offer insights into the history and everyday life of Chodov.

Bílá voda: Water, exercise and a path around the reservoir

The Bílá voda leisure zone is located 1.6 kilometers northwest of Chodov city center. A 1.5-kilometer-long path runs around the reservoir, with fitness equipment along the way. The distance from the center and the length of the loop are therefore provided as two different points of reference for your stay.

In summer, Bílá voda also has a pontoon, refreshments, changing rooms and a well-maintained sandy beach. Thus, in addition to the loop path, the leisure zone includes specific facilities for spending time by the water.

The sporting facilities also include the Pumptrack u Bílé vody. It opened on June 2, 2018. It is intended for bicycles, skateboards, longboards, inline skates and scooters. The pump track therefore has a different focus from the path around the reservoir: while the latter describes a loop with fitness equipment, the former focuses on various wheeled sports equipment.

Churches, a gallery and living tradition

Those who would like to learn about Chodov’s cultural character in addition to enjoying leisure activities by the water will find several independent points of interest. The Baroque Church of St. Lawrence in Chodov was built from 1725 to 1733. Its construction period gives a visit a clear historical connection to the city and makes the church an integral part of the local history.

The traditional Vavřinecká pouť brings Staroměstská and Bezručova streets in Chodov to life. This connects the event with two specifically named streets in Chodov. There is also a Protestant church. Among other features, its pulpit, pews and interior doors have been preserved. The staircase to the gallery, with its metal-decorated railing, is also among the preserved parts of the church. The preserved elements therefore concern both the furnishings of the church interior and access to the gallery.

In addition, the Galerie u Vavřince on the second floor has exhibition rooms. It adds an independent exhibition venue to the historical offerings, so that a stay is not limited to churches and the traditional event.

Orientation on site

The Chodov Tourist Information Center provides information about accommodation, food and drink, cultural and sporting events, and sights in Chodov and the nearby area. The information service therefore covers both offerings in Chodov and destinations in the nearby area. It also sells reserved tickets for domestic and international bus connections.

Other places in this selection are Bleistadt, Unterreichenau, Liebauthal, Josefsdorf, Teschwitz, Elbogen, Douglasgrün and Schlaggenwald.
