Katzengrün: Castle, Chapels and Historical Traces

Next to House No. 28 on the western edge of Kaceřov’s built-up area is a well-preserved statue of Saint Anthony of Padua. The year 1719 is inscribed on the front of its pedestal.

The late Baroque column of the Holy Trinity also bears a meaningful historical trace: its inscription gives the year 1770. Kaceřov is also home to the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. Chapels and Remains of Older Fortifications

A small Chapel of Saint Anne stands near Kaceřov Castle. It was built in the 1890s from an older building dating from around 1820 that had been used by the castle gardener. The present building is rectangular and lies above the Libocký stream. Its apsidal ending is in the Neo-Gothic style. The chapel thus combines an older history of use with a later architectural design.

The remains of a round fortification lie on the slope above Kaceřov’s castle pond. Its diameter was 18 metres. This brief but precise finding adds another accent alongside the castle, park and chapels: the history of the place reaches beyond the Baroque period and also includes traces of an older defensive structure.

In the mid-18th century, a road was built between Prague and Erfurt that ran through Kaceřov.
