Discover Vysoká Srbská

Vysoká Srbská combines distinctive cultural monuments with hiking, cycling and winter sports experiences in the Broumovsko landscape. Chapel, Bell and Historic Village Views

The most important landmark of Vysoká Srbská is the Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. It is a historic monument and is regarded as a symbol of the village. Its construction history dates back to the second half of the 19th century. Following extensive reconstruction, the chapel was ceremonially reconsecrated on 9 October 2010. A particularly striking detail is the 64-kilogram bronze bell. It bears the inscription “Svatý Václave, oroduj za nás” and the coat of arms of Vysoká Srbská.

Smaller elements also contribute to the historic character of the village. A stone cross stands in the centre of Vysoká Srbská. Historic buildings also include timber-framed log houses and masonry houses from the 19th century. A monument on the main road commemorates the victims of the First World War. This means the village can be discovered not only through a single building, but through several different traces of its history.

Landscape and Views

The Bohadlova Lime Tree is a protected individual tree. The protected individual tree stands in the cadastral area of Vysoká Srbská within the CHKO Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area. The lime tree is estimated to be 140 years old and is 22 metres tall. It is therefore one of the specific natural features that provide the landscape with its own point of reference alongside the views of the rocks and mountains.

The 18-metre-high Na Větrné horce lookout tower has an observation platform at a height of 15 metres. From there, views extend over the Polish table mountains with Bor and Hejšovina, Ostaš, the Javoří Mountains, the Teplické skály rocks, the Krkonoše Mountains and the Orlické Mountains. The tower is accessible year-round, and admission is free. It therefore provides a clear destination for the day, regardless of whether the focus is on the landscape or on the historic impressions of Vysoká Srbská.

Hiking, Cycling and Cross-Country Skiing

Hikers can choose a red-marked trail that leads from Hronov through Vysoká Srbská, via Machov, and onwards to the Broumovské stěny. Another route option is the red-marked trail from the area of the bus stop in Vysoká Srbská to the cemetery. The Stezka psa Voříška circuit begins there; the literary trail starts in Zlíčko. The Tkalcovský stezník runs via Závrchy and Sedmákovice to Vysoká Srbská and onwards to Hronov.

A specific route is also documented for a cycling trip: Cycle Route 4152 passes through Vysoká Srbská between Police nad Metují and Kudowa-Zdrój. In winter, the Hronovská smyčka adds to the activities on offer. It is a 5.5-kilometre, green-marked cross-country ski trail for the classic technique. It follows the route towards Vysoká Srbská, passes the cemetery and reaches the edge of the forest.
