Mezimestí – Hiking, Mountains and Culture

Swimming and Hiking around Mezimestí

The AQA LAND complex in Meziměstí offers visitors opportunities for relaxation, swimming, sports and rest. To enter, you need a valid day ticket or a personalized season pass. AQA LAND is therefore the clear starting point if you want to combine swimming and relaxation.

For hiking, the marked Okolo Meziměstí circular trail offers a precisely described route: it is 15.7 km long and of moderate difficulty. The trail starts in the town square on red- and blue-marked paths and leads across a railway crossing. The Vyhlídková hřebenovka po Javořích horách offers a different route. It begins at Meziměstí railway station and is a challenging hike from Meziměstí via Vižňov to the ridge of the Javoří Mountains. This allows you to distinguish between a moderately difficult circular route and a challenging hike to the mountain ridge.

Mountain Landscape with Views

Ruprechtický Špičák is located within Meziměstí, is 880 m high, has a lookout tower and is the highest point in the Náchodsko region. The mountain creates a distinctive feature in the landscape and complements the hiking opportunities with a clearly recognizable destination in the Javoří Mountains.

Church, Railway and Industrial History

In Vižňov, a district of Meziměstí, stands the Baroque Church of St. Anne, Kostel sv. Anny. It belongs to the so-called Broumov church group and has been protected as a national cultural monument since 1 July 2022. The Po stopách rodiny Walzelů educational trail was also established in Vižňov.

The history of the railway includes Meziměstí railway station as a historically significant technical object. The building of ČD Meziměstí railway station on line 026 was built in 1875 in connection with the construction of the Choceň–Meziměstí–state border and Meziměstí–Broumov–state border railway lines near Otovice. The Meziměstí Railway Museum presents the history and circumstances of the construction of the Choceň–Meziměstí railway line.

The present-day Křížová cesta Vlasty Hampla also preserves a historical detail: it features cast-iron panels from the late 19th century, mounted in wooden stands. Centrum Walzel is located in the building of the former textile factory of Josef Walzel and Sons in Meziměstí. The former textile factory was converted into the multifunctional commercial and entertainment center Centrum Walzel.
