Křinice – Hiking Trails, Village History and the Broumovské stěny
Křinice combines protected countryside and marked trails with preserved historic village structures. The village lies in the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area, directly below the Broumovské stěny. The Broumovské stěny, designated as a national nature reserve, are located nearby. Křinice therefore offers different ways to plan your stay: you can focus on nature and hiking routes or explore the village’s historic traces in greater detail.
Landscape and trails around Křinice
A red-marked hiking trail runs through Křinice, taking you from Broumov to Hvězda. Another way to discover the village thematically is the “Proč chodit daleko?” educational trail. It has 19 stops focusing on everyday history, small religious structures in the surrounding area and local nature. The educational trail forms a loop around Křinice and ends at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows below Hvězda. This allows you to choose between a linear connection and a loop trail with several stops.
The blue-marked Vyhlídková cesta cycling route runs at the foot of the Broumovské stěny at the upper end of Křinice. In addition, the “Cesta Rájem aneb přes Ameriku do Broumova” route leads to the upper end of Křinice. The Hvězdecká cesta “Aloise Jiráska” leads from Broumov via Křinice to Hvězda.
Village history and religious sites
The Křinice village heritage reserve preserves brick farmsteads of the Broumov type dating from the late 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. Křinice was founded in 1255 as part of a monastic domain. The village’s historical development can therefore be traced both through individual buildings and through its long connection to regional history.
Křinice is home to the Chapel of Saint Hubert, built in 1786, and a Way of the Cross dating from the second half of the 19th century. The Křinická pouť combines a religious programme with secular festivities. The Dožínky harvest festival was also scheduled to take place in Křinice on 5 September 2026. The programme included a harvest procession, a craft market and a historical fencing performance.
The Křinické rybníčky
The Křinické rybníčky are a protected area. Storks, herons and swans, among others, breed at the Křinické rybníčky.
Křinice as a search location for your accommodation
When searching for a hotel or other accommodation, you can assess Křinice according to the focus you prefer. If you want to centre your stay on village history and religious sites, the key points are the heritage reserve, the Chapel of Saint Hubert and the Way of the Cross. If you want to compare different routes, the main names are the connection from Broumov to Hvězda, the “Proč chodit daleko?” loop trail and the Vyhlídková cesta cycling route. If different interests arise within your travel group, you can consider these focuses separately when choosing your search location, without combining the individual experiences into a single route.
