Discover Přibyslav Nad Metují

Přibyslav combines a distinctive landscape at the foot of the Orlické hory with a local history shaped by agriculture and forestry, including traditional crafts. The elongated slope, expansive views, steep rock formations, a romantic valley, and local traditions reveal different aspects of the place.

Peklo Route and Public Transport

The “Peklo” tourist route leads to the center of Přibyslav. It follows marked hiking trails and is an easy route. Přibyslav is also a public transport stop on this tourist route. Thus, a hiking trail, the village center, and a public transport connection come together at this location within the same route.

Landscape at the Foot of the Orlické hory

Přibyslav lies at the foot of the Orlické hory on an elongated slope. Forests partially surround the village. From Přibyslav, the view extends across the landscape for up to 80 km. The hillside location and partially forested surroundings shape the landscape setting, while the view opens across a vast expanse.

The so-called “Skály” are located in the surroundings of Přibyslav. There are steep, high rock formations surrounded by lush forests. Unlike the expansive landscape view, the immediate impression at the Skály is defined by rock and forest. The wide view of up to 80 km and the steep rock formations of the Skály thus stand alongside each other as two distinct landscape impressions. The rock formations therefore form a separate landscape feature in the surroundings of Přibyslav.

Another place is Koníček near Přibyslav. Tourists visit it, and it offers a view of the romantic Peklo Valley and the Metuje River. From Koníček, the view is therefore directed toward a valley and a river, while the Skály are characterized by steep rock formations and lush forests.

History and Traditional Crafts

The history of the village is shaped by agriculture and forestry. Historically, the inhabitants of Přibyslav made their living from these two areas. Traditional crafts included blacksmithing, carpentry, and weaving. The local history therefore encompasses both the inhabitants’ livelihood and several traditional craft activities. Agriculture and forestry thus stand alongside the specific trades practiced in Přibyslav.

Posvícení and Local Traditions

At the traditional Posvícení festival in Přibyslav, “Stínání kohoutů” is part of the celebrations. Since 1993, the Přibyslav Volunteer Fire Brigade has organized its own competition, the “Přibyslavský pohár.” The two local traditions have different occasions: “Stínání kohoutů” is associated with Posvícení, while the competition is organized by the Volunteer Fire Brigade. Thus, the festival custom and the firefighters’ competition belong to different parts of the local traditions.
