Nature Experiences Around Bukovice

Bukovice combines trails through a protected landscape with the rock cities of Ostaš, striking viewpoints, a long local history and a variety of leisure activities. This gives you not one standard excursion programme, but a selection of clearly distinct experiences: you can compare trail lengths, focus on rock formations and views, discover traces of history or combine active days with relaxation.

Three Trails, Three Different Hiking Ideas

Three trails run through Bukovice. The 14.4-kilometre Trasa Hvězda runs through the village and then continues towards Hvězda. The 12.7-kilometre Trasa Ostaš leads via Nebíčko and Bukovice to Ostaš and is the shortest of the three routes. At 12.7 kilometres, it is 1.7 kilometres shorter than Trasa Hvězda and 3.7 kilometres shorter than Trasa Hony. The 16.4-kilometre Trasa Hony also runs through Bukovice and offers views of Ostaš and the Broumovské stěny. The three routes have different focal points: heading towards Hvězda, the route to Ostaš, or views of Ostaš and the Broumovské stěny.

Part of Zone II of the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area lies below Mount Ostaš in the territory of the municipality of Bukovice. Ostaš is home to two rock cities with numerous different rock formations. The Ostaš circular trail leads across the summit plateau and along its rocky edge; several developed and unique viewpoints are part of this trail. In the Ostaš Nature Reserve, climbing is permitted in the appropriately marked areas subject to the Broumovsko protection regulations. For families looking for shared nature experiences, this combination offers a range of focal points, without every activity having to be the same in character.

Winter, Leisure and Relaxation

The Nebíčko ski area lies between Police nad Metují and Bukovice in the direction of Broumov. Artamon also offers further leisure opportunities. Every hole on Artamon's adventure golf course is original and unique. Facilities include a Finnish sauna for 16 people at 85–95 °C, a bio sauna for 10 people at 65–75 °C and a whirlpool for 6 people. The Finnish sauna is therefore hotter and accommodates more people than the bio sauna; the whirlpool is designed for six people.

Traces of Local History

Bukovice was founded around 1220 by Benedictines from Police. The Benedictines built a farmstead there, which was still mentioned in 1405. Another visible reminder is a column with an Immaculata from 1747, standing beside a road in Bukovice. In addition to its landscape and leisure activities, these two references also give the village a historical context.
