Holohlavy

Holohlavy represents local history, a naturally designed landscape park and a public recreational facility. Cultural traces, historic architecture and leisure activities thus emerge as distinct aspects of the village. The village combines preserved traces and present-day recreational use with a local cultural format. This recurring event does not belong to Holohlavy’s permanently existing features, but instead adds another form of public life to them.

Cultural History in the Village Centre

The Kostel sv. Jana Křtitele has been documented in Holohlavy as a cultural and historical monument since 1357. The originally Gothic building was remodelled into its present Renaissance form in 1584. This makes it possible to trace a clear architectural transformation in a single religious building: its history dates back to the Gothic period, while its present appearance reflects the remodelling carried out in the 16th century. Sportovní park U Svatých

Another historical trace is the former hospital of Holohlavy. It is located in the historic village centre, a few metres from the village square, and was built before 1573. The single-storey masonry building with a hipped roof adds a building with a distinctly different function from the church to the history of the village.

A different side of Holohlavy is represented by Sportovní park U Svatých. The public non-profit facility is intended for leisure activities and children’s enjoyment. It includes a multifunctional playing field with artificial turf. The park is situated in a naturally designed landscape park, thereby combining sporting use with a landscape-oriented setting.

Historical elements are also incorporated into the park. A preserved and restored section of the historic path forms part of Sportovní park U Svatých. The section of path connects the village’s historical heritage with the park’s present-day use. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk also stands at U Svatých; it was probably created by a pupil of Matyáš Bernard Braun. For families who are not looking exclusively for culture or exclusively for leisure when choosing a destination, these different themes come together here in a shared excursion setting.

Letní kino in the Park

The Letní kino is part of local event life. It is a recurring local film event that took place in Holohlavy in 2025 and 2026. The park is specified as the venue. The Letní kino complements the permanently documented architectural and park features with a recurring cultural format and shows that, alongside its local history, Holohlavy also offers community-oriented leisure events.
