Stirin: Castle, Springs and Landscape

Štiřín combines cultural history with a carefully structured castle landscape and special water sites. The present appearance of Štiřín Castle dates back to Baroque and Neo-Baroque alterations. Together with the castle park, the Štiřínské studánky springs and an educational trail between Lojovice and Štiřín, it forms a destination where historical themes and landscape experiences can be combined.

Cultural history around Štiřín Castle

The grounds of Štiřín Castle are protected as an immovable cultural monument. Between 1892 and 1910, the castle was restored and remodelled according to designs by the architect Jiří Stibral. During this period, the north wing and the entrance area were altered; the castle also received electric lighting. This building history makes Štiřín interesting if, when travelling, you want to understand not just a single sight but the development of a historic ensemble.

Springs, park and composed landscape

The Štiřín castle park is a significant work of landscape and garden art. The castle landscape is structured by sightlines and vistas: they lead to the castle and, from the castle, open views of composed landscape scenes. The Štiřínské studánky springs include a large cascade of ponds as well as several springs and fountains in the spring area of the nearby Pod stodůlkou forest. They can be reached via a forest path along the western edge of Štiřínský rybník. In the past, the Štiřínské studánky supplied Štiřín Castle and the former castle brewery with water. The golf course in Štiřín is closed and should therefore not be planned as a current attraction.
