Archaeological traces near Volenovice

The Volenovice fortified site in Plazy is classified as a significant archaeological site. It marks a vanished late-medieval fortified settlement on the southern edge of the Valy settlement, in a small deciduous woodland. The history of the locality thus extends beyond the present settlement name to a specific medieval chapter.

The Volenovice castle site lies in a small deciduous woodland. Its barely discernible circular core features an inner and an outer ring ditch, as well as traces of an inner rampart. The Volenovice settlement was abandoned at the beginning of the 16th century; finds from the site date to the 14th century. The chronological framework therefore extends from 14th-century finds to the abandonment of the settlement.

The focus is not a preserved structure, but the barely discernible circular core with its ditches and traces of the rampart. Among the deciduous woodland, ring ditches, and inner rampart, the vanished fortification remains perceptible in the terrain. Together with the 14th-century finds and the abandonment of the settlement at the beginning of the 16th century, the site connects the landscape with a clearly defined historical period.

The church complex in the center of Plazy

The complex of the Church of St. Simon and St. Jude stands in the center of Plazy on a slight elevation. It is enclosed by a stone perimeter wall; from the north, you enter through a pillar gate.

Regular services are held in the parish Church of St. Simon and St. Jude. The church is not accessible to wheelchair users. Cycling, sports, and announced events

The cycling tour on Route 8155 runs via Dolní Stakory, Valy, and Plazy to Řepov, where it connects to Route 8148 to Mladá Boleslav. Plazy lies between Valy and Řepov; via the connection to Route 8148, the route continues to Mladá Boleslav.
