Osov in the Czech Republic: High Baroque, castle park and trails along the Brdy Ridge

Osov combines Baroque architectural history with trails leading towards the Brdy. Osov Castle served as a cultural meeting place under Václav Palivec. Frequent guests included Karel Čapek with Olga Scheinpflugová, the sculptor Karel Dvořák with Leopolda Dostálovu, and the writer Ferdinand Peroutka. The former sugar factory is also part of the town’s history: it began sugar production on 12 October 1858, was shut down in spring 1886 and subsequently abolished. These stages give Osov several historical layers, from the former fortress through the Baroque castle building to its industrial history.

Cycling and hiking trails along the Brdy

Several routes from Osov connect to cycle route No. 3 and to trails on the Brdy Ridge; however, no cycle route runs directly through Osov. This distinction is useful for your planning if you would like to compare different tours. A yellow-marked hiking route starts at Osov railway station and leads towards the Brdy forests. This means that both a cycling connection on the edge of the town and a signposted hiking start at the railway station are central options for a stay.
