Kmetiněves between Village History and Farmland

Kmetiněves combines visible village history with a flat, agriculturally shaped surrounding area. Anyone traveling through the Czech Republic who wants to get to know not only larger attractions but also the character of a place will find several points of interest here: religious buildings, a stream, a historic village center and paths between fields.

Church of St. Wenceslas: A Church with Medieval and Baroque Traces

The complex of the Church of St. Wenceslas is located on a slight elevation at the eastern edge of the village, along the road and near the village center. It includes a mortuary and a cemetery that is still in use, and is surrounded by an enclosing wall. The church dates from the 14th century and was remodeled in the Baroque style in 1731.

The building has a single nave and a rectangular layout. Attached to it are a narrower, three-sided apse and two square sacristies. The original Late Gothic tower, built of stone blocks, stands on the west façade. The furnishings include a Baroque pulpit and a confessional dating from 1741. Chapel and Village Center

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands on the road to the village center. It was built in the Neo-Gothic style in the second half of the 19th century, probably on the site of an older chapel. A stone cross is set into its side façade. Together with the church, it demonstrates different historical forms of religious architecture within the village.

The historic village center of Kmetiněves has been documented since 1336 and is designated as UAN II. Another place of remembrance is the statue of the World War fallen monument, which was erected and unveiled in 1922. The village’s history can thus be traced through several clearly identifiable points during a shared exploration.

Stream, Fields and Walking Paths

Kmetiněves lies on both banks of the Vranský potok, which flows through the center of the village. Fields occupy most of the cadastral area; at the same time, Kmetiněves lies in a fertile, agriculturally shaped region. The flat landscape around the village is crisscrossed by numerous roads and paths between the fields.

These roads and paths in the surrounding area are suitable for walking. An important distinction for your planning is between the existing farm tracks and a marked tourist route: no such route passes through Kmetiněves. If you would like to combine local history and walks, you can consider these two aspects separately.

Annual Event in the Village

Every year in Kmetiněves, the Christmas lights on the Christmas tree are switched on in front of the municipal office. This event complements the permanently visible historical and landscape features with a recurring local tradition.
