Nová Ves pod Pleší combines remarkable architecture, local history and a cycle route that runs through the town. The character of the destination is not defined by just one attraction: the Na Pleši Sanatorium, a listed wooden house, a chapel, the Muzeum Trabantů and the chestnut avenue each offer a different focus. You can therefore get to know the town both through its architectural history and by actively exploring the surrounding area.

Na Pleši Sanatorium and historic architecture

The Na Pleši Sanatorium was built between 1908 and 1916. It is a Neo-Baroque building with Art Nouveau influences; its garden area is designed as a formal Neo-Baroque garden. The complex is registered as a cultural monument and has been protected as a heritage site since November 1989. The sanatorium therefore provides a clear architectural and historical focus that shapes the history of Nová Ves pod Pleší.

A second important example is the wooden house at number 18. It has been protected as a heritage site since 1975 and is registered as a cultural monument. At the same time, it is considered a traditional example of the folk architecture of the Příbramsko region from the second half of the 18th century. The house retains its original floor plan and numerous original building elements. The chapel dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk, with its small bell tower, was built in 1842 and still stands in Nová Ves pod Pleší today. In the town centre, a chestnut avenue planted in 1881 also bears witness to the town’s long-established structure.

Trabant Museum with seasonal opening hours

The Muzeum Trabantů is a distinctive cultural attraction. It was founded by Míla Foukner and officially opened on 1 July 2017. The museum displays Dan Přibáň’s yellow Trabants; the exhibition also covers, among other things, Trabantcross races. For your planning, it is important to note that the museum has seasonal opening hours: in May, June, September and October, visits are possible from Monday to Friday by telephone appointment.

Cycling and further discoveries

The green “Krajem luk a lesů” cycle circuit runs through Nová Ves pod Pleší and is classified as moderately difficult. It complements the cultural attractions with an opportunity to explore the town and its surroundings by bicycle. A notable point connected with local history is Národní muka: the four-metre-high column was carved from a block of sandstone and stands in the forest near the Na Pleši Sanatorium. It commemorates the suffering of the Czech nation.
