Buková U Příbramě combines historical landmarks with trails through a forest-rich landscape. The municipality can be considered a gateway to the Brdy forests; forests cover almost 55% of its cadastral area, a total of 427 hectares. This gives the area various options for planning your trip: you can combine cultural discoveries, marked hiking trails, cycling and seasonal traditions.

Château, Chapels and Historical Details

The local history goes back further: Buková u Příbramě was first mentioned in 1336 as the seat of the lords of Buková. The château in Buková u Příbramě is a two-storey, three-winged building with a mansard roof. Its present appearance dates back to 1751, when an older manor house was rebuilt. The château is not open to the public; however, the route of the blue-marked Komárov–Jince–Buková u Příbramě–Rosovice hiking trail passes the local château.

In the circular village centre stands the chapel dedicated to Saint Sigismund, built in 1888. Its altar dates from the second half of the 18th century. In the upper part of the village there is also the small U sv. Jana Chapel, where May devotions are held. A Baroque wayside shrine stands at the crossroads between Buková, Pičín and Rosovice.

Hiking Trails, Water and the Brdy Forests

The blue-marked hiking trail connects Komárov, Jince, Buková u Příbramě and Rosovice. A green local hiking trail leads from Buková towards the partisan monument. When choosing accommodation, the preferred combination is therefore the key consideration: cultural destinations in the village or trails and landscapes around Buková.

Water is also part of the landscape. The Sychrovský stream crosses the municipality from west to east and flows into Vackov Pond. The smaller Dražský Pond lies next to Vackov Pond in the area of Buková u Příbramě. Those planning a cycling trip can take the “Do Pičína” route via Malá Buková to Buková u Příbramě; Čechova Stodola can also be visited along this cycling route.

Exhibitions and Seasonal Experiences

Čechova Stodola in Buková u Příbramě is an educational attraction open year-round, with four themed exhibitions throughout the year. From May to October, the “Staré pověsti české” exhibition can be seen there. Large pictures and figures illustrate the themes; the visit is accompanied by stories about the individual legends.

A special seasonal tradition is “Jesličky”, whose age is estimated at around 100 years. During this annual Christmas tradition, a shepherd, angel and devil continue to go from house to house. The event ends at around 10 p.m. at the chapel with Christmas carols and a gathering of the local residents.
