A yellow hiking trail leads directly through the village; at the same time, triathlon, rock, fossils and historical finds provide several specific themes for a stay. Sport and hiking with clear orientation

The Hostín triathlon comprises 400 m of swimming, 21 km of cycling and 3.5 km of running. The sequence combines a short swimming section with a longer cycling section and a subsequent run. The three disciplines therefore differ not only in their form of movement but also in the lengths of the routes. For an active stay, you can therefore distinguish a competition with a set sequence from a hike along the yellow trail. In addition, a yellow hiking trail leads directly through Hostín, from U Kola via Horní Harbasko to Dolní Harbasko. A day of hiking can be planned around this sequence: U Kola is the starting point, Horní Harbasko lies in between, and Dolní Harbasko completes the route. When planning, the route through the three places thus remains separate from the three-part sequence of the sport. The places follow one another along a hiking connection, while the three disciplines take place one after another in the competition. For groups with different interests, this makes it possible to set an individual focus. You can therefore structure the sporting day differently from a route in which the trail and the sequence of places are the main focus.

Ridges, fossils and forests

Hostín lies on a ridge composed of marl layers, in which limestone also occurs in places. Fossils as well as remains of crabs, snails and marine animals have been found in Hostín and its surroundings. Those interested in natural history will find evidence here of former worlds of life. The forests still form the landscape surrounding Hostín today and complement its geological character with a distinct landscape feature.

Traces from different eras

Human history is also tangible through specific finds. Three Stone Age stone axes were found at various locations in Hostín. A chipped stone industry was also discovered in the forest on the northern edge of the village; its age is estimated at 4000 to 5000 BC. The documented span of time therefore reaches far back. A more recent memorial is the monument to those who fell in the First World War. It was erected in 1934 by a local amateur dramatics association.
