Romanesque and Early Gothic Parish Church

The parish church of “Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie” in Hostín u Vojkovic is a Romanesque and Early Gothic sacred building. After 1615, it was partly remodelled in the Renaissance style and transformed in the Baroque style in the 18th century. A Gothic southern portal and an Early Gothic presbytery have been preserved. The church was already a parish church in 1290; its first mention dates from 1320. This means that a single building brings together several clearly distinguishable periods in architectural history.

The Božího těla Chapel

Another historical feature is the cemetery chapel “Kaple Božího těla”. It was built from 1735 to 1736 in the Baroque style under the direction of the Italian Jeroným Costa. Its original circular floor plan is particularly striking: the interior diameter is 12 m and the exterior diameter is 17 m. These two measurements make the distinctive spatial form concrete and provide a clear indication of the proportions of the building.

Selská tůň and the Landscape Along the Labe and Vltava
