Hlasna Treban – Berounka, Český kras and history
Hlásná Třebaň lies on the left bank of the Berounka and on the edge of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. The town combines a riverside setting with a long history, natural surroundings and geological discoveries. The Geologická naučná stezka begins here and offers a clear way to explore the area actively. This means your travel planning can combine nature, history and different day-trip itineraries.
Landscape and geology in Český kras
The Karlštejn National Nature Reserve also includes the cadastral territory of Hlásná Třebaň. The reserve contains world-famous Paleozoic geological profiles and paleontological sites, as well as above-ground and underground karst features. The Geologická naučná stezka is approximately 39 km long and is primarily used as a cycling route. You can decide the order of the stations yourself or choose only part of the route.
From the Bronze Age to fortifications
The area where Hlásná Třebaň extends was already settled in the Early and Late Bronze Age and during the Hallstatt period. The first mention in historical sources dates from the year 1000. In 1357, Charles IV bought the village and incorporated it into the newly established Karlštejn Castle estate. At the end of the 19th century, Hlásná Třebaň was a small, predominantly agricultural community with several farmsteads featuring gates in the folk Baroque style and houses surrounding a village green with a chapel.
A preserved remnant of the linear fortification dating from 1936–1937 survives in Hlásná Třebaň and represents historical evidence of Czechoslovakia’s defensive efforts. At the end of the 1930s, the town became a popular resort. These two traces add a view of the 20th century to the older history of the town.
Cycling and rail connections
There are also clear options for planning cycling and rail journeys. A cycling route in the Berounsko region runs from Hlásná Třebaň across a footbridge to Zadní Třebaň and then along the railway line to Řevnice. From Zadní Třebaň station, railway line 171 Praha–Beroun provides a connection to Prague; the journey to central Prague takes 38 minutes, and trains run every half hour. The EV4 cycle route leads in the direction of Hlásná Třebaň.
