A place with a multifaceted past

The history of Chrást can be traced through several stages. Chrást was formed by the merger of the two villages of Chrást and Manderscheid. In 1776, František Josef re-established Chrást after the buildings of the former estate, together with part of the land, had been sold to subjects. This historical development gives the village its own story, extending beyond a single date and revealing the various phases of its formation.

Among the listed historic buildings in Chrást is a wooden bell tower. The memorial to the victims of the First World War is also part of the local commemorative heritage. It is made of Hořice sandstone and was unveiled in 1924. The memorial commemorates 20 fallen soldiers from the battlefields of the First World War, as well as members of the Czechoslovak Legions in Russia. Festivals with fixed dates

Chrást preserves several traditional events whose dates or rhythm provide clear guidance for trip planning. The traditional Vítov pilgrimage festival is celebrated on 15 June. The traditional harvest festival, Posvícení, is held every year on the first Sunday in November. The traditional Staročeské máje festival takes place every two years.
