The Church of St. Gall is an early Gothic building dating from the end of the 13th century and was given a Baroque makeover in the 18th century. The church complex is a listed cultural monument. The church stands on the edge of Chocnějovice, on the crest of a hill, making it a clearly recognizable historical landmark in the village.

The Jizera, Mohelka, Pěnčínský potok, Malá Mohelka and several unnamed intermittent watercourses flow through the municipality of Chocnějovice. Another historic connection is the 149-kilometre Žitavská trasa, a pilgrimage and trade route from Zittau to Prague. It passes through Chocnějovice and by the early Gothic Church of St. Gall.
