Svinaře Castle was built in 1766 on the estate farm. Antonín Maschek of Maasburg had it constructed with extensive gardens and a park. The present castle complex stands on the site of a fortress whose origins probably date back to the first half of the 14th century. The history of the place therefore reaches considerably further back than the Baroque-style castle complex.

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas also reflects a change within the castle grounds. The public chapel was built in 1901 to replace the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Svinaře Castle, which had burned down, and was consecrated on 28 September 1901. This date continues to shape the local calendar: Svinařské posvícení takes place on 28 September. Those interested in regional traditions and the place’s established history will therefore find concrete points of connection here rather than an interchangeable attraction.

Despite the ongoing reconstruction, the castle complex offers interesting interiors and a beautiful castle park for outings and cultural experiences.

Spring, Pond and Sporting Variety

Another distinctive feature is the Svinaře spring. A document from 1840 describes its healing effects; a well and two basins are also mentioned at the site. Around 1900, a carriage from Karlovy Vary arrived twice a week to fill Svinaře mineral water into special bottles and transport it away. This documented use makes the spring a tangible part of the local history, without implying any present-day medical claims.

The Žába Pond hosts numerous social and sporting events. In winter, people play hockey and go ice skating there. Active days can also include a multifunctional artificial-turf field suitable for ball hockey, floorball, nohejbal, volleyball and tennis. The different sports offer a range of options for a travel group in which not everyone prefers the same daily rhythm.
