Babice between forests, cycling routes and local history

Babice lies southeast of Prague at the entrance to the deep Černokostelec and Jevany forests. The village combines woodland landscapes, marked trails, cycling routes and sports facilities. If you would like to combine nature, activity and local history, you will find various points of interest here – from the forest park to the history of the area as a resort town.

Cycling and hiking trails around Babice

Several cycling routes provide the village with connections in different directions. Cycling Route 0031 runs from Babice via Strašín and Svojetice towards Voděradské bučiny. Cycling Route 8206 leads from Babice via Doubek and Mrzky to Zahrady u Českého Brodu. Cycling Route 1A also connects Babice with Žernovka. At a higher level, KČT Class 1 Cycling Route runs between Prague and Brno. For hiking, there is a red-marked trail to Třebohostice and Strašín, as well as a yellow-marked trail to Doubek and Mukařov. This allows you to choose excursions according to your desired destination and preferred type of route: the cycling routes and marked hiking trails lead in different directions.

The local history also gives Babice its own distinctive character. The village probably originated in the 13th century; the first written mention dates from 1381. In the 1920s, Babice developed into a significant resort for Prague’s lower and middle classes, who built holiday homes there. A resort hotel on the village square became a landmark of Babice.

Sports facilities and family activities

The Sportovní areál Babice complex is located on Topolová Street next to the kindergarten. It has a 29 × 18 metre multifunctional artificial-turf pitch for various ball sports, including tennis. There is also a 100 × 58 metre grass field equipped for football and rugby.

The Babice lesopark next to the kindergarten offers children play features in a woodland setting. The Cyklohřiště is also located in the forest park, a pump track with two courses: one for smaller children with balance bikes, small bicycles or off-road scooters, and one for more experienced bikers and larger bicycles. A technical zone is available for practising riding skills. This allows you to choose between the two courses according to age and experience.

The Babický trail 1/4 maraton

A specific event date adds to the range of activities for those interested in sports. The Babický trail 1/4 maraton took place on 7 June 2026, starting at the Sportovní areál Babice, and included races over 10.55 km, 5.95 km, 1,500 m, 1,000 m and 300 m. The race is scheduled to take place again on 30 May 2027. The main race runs through the Babický forest.
