Seninka combines scenic views, regional history and living Wallachian traditions in a special way. Here, you can visit a collection dedicated to motorcycle history, discover folk architecture, explore an educational trail with seven stops and admire the landscape from the Vartovna lookout tower. Fruit drying is also part of the character of the village: it is not only a long-standing tradition, but is also reflected in the traditional use of dried fruit.

History and Regional Culture

The First Wallachian Motorcycle Museum in Seninka presents a collection on the history of the motorcycle industry in the former Czechoslovakia. The focus is therefore not solely on individual vehicles, but also on an industrial chapter in the history of former Czechoslovakia.

The village retains folk architecture with numerous wooden houses, chambers and cellars. These forms of construction give Seninka a distinct regional character and also make it interesting for visitors who want to discover history not only in a museum, but directly in the surrounding area. Some place names in Seninka are traditionally associated with a visit by Emperor Joseph II. This tradition adds another historical layer to the view of local history without reducing the village to a single event.

Educational Trail and Views of the Mountain Landscape

The Vartovna educational trail is 7 km long and leads via seven stops to sights and information about the history of Seninka, Valašská Polanka and other places along the route. By combining the route, stops and regional themes, it offers a continuous way to discover the surrounding area rather than simply presenting individual sights side by side.

A special destination along this landscape experience is the Vartovna lookout tower. The 37-metre-high, spiral-shaped steel tower offers wide-ranging views of the Vsetín, Hostýn and Vizovice Mountains. In good weather, the Beskids, the Buchlov Hills, Velká Fatra and the Roháče can also be seen. This allows a stay in Seninka to be combined with a panorama encompassing several mountain landscapes at once.

Nature and Wallachian Fruit-Drying Tradition

The area around Seninka features flowering meadows, rare woodland orchids, numerous protected bird species, a sulphur spring and old trees. This diversity complements the cultural attractions with opportunities for observing nature and also makes the surroundings interesting for more tranquil discoveries.

Fruit drying has a long-standing tradition in Seninka. Dried fruit was eaten directly, used in various dishes and sold at markets when there were surpluses. Historically, Seninka was home to around 25 Wallachian fruit dryers; fruit, especially plums, was dried for up to five weeks. For trip planning, this tradition adds a culinary and cultural element that differs from the viewpoints and technical exhibits of the motorcycle museum.
