Stříbrnice – Sacred Buildings and Stříbrnické paseky

Stříbrnice combines remarkable sacred buildings with a landscape whose distinctive character has remained visible to this day. Stříbrnické paseky were declared a nature park in 1993 and preserve the character of a Pasekar settlement. In addition, there are routes for pedestrians and cyclists that lead through this area to the Smrďavka recreational area. This creates a destination where cultural history and a particularly distinctive landscape come together within a compact thematic area.

Sacred Buildings with a Distinctive History

The Chapel of St. Procopius was built in 1749–1750 as a High Baroque chapel. Its furnishings include a bell cast in Brno in 1692, which is still in use today. The chapel was completely restored in 2009. The combination of its construction period, bell, and restoration makes it a place where several eras of local history can be read.

The Church of St. Procopius represents a different architectural style. It was consecrated on November 11, 1908, and is a Neo-Romanesque church. Its portal is decorated with an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus etched in glass. The main tower is 33.30 meters high. Those interested in church architecture and regional details will therefore find not just a single place of worship here, but two different forms of sacred expression: the High Baroque chapel and the Neo-Romanesque church.

Stříbrnické paseky as a Nature Park

Stříbrnické paseky are significant both in terms of landscape and natural history. Their distinctive character lies not only in their designation as a nature park, but also in the Pasekar settlement that has been preserved to this day. Here, the term refers to a settlement landscape whose traditional form continues to be part of the appearance of the area.

The natural conditions also distinguish the paseky from an ordinary forest or meadow landscape. The area is dry and benefits from warm conditions. Layers of windblown loess and sand allow many warmth-loving plants and animals to thrive. The rock formation Čertovo sedlo is also located in the forest of Stříbrnické paseky. The nature park therefore offers several specific points of interest for your exploration: the settlement character, distinctive soil conditions, warmth-loving species, and a striking rock formation.

Hiking and Cycling around Stříbrnice

A walking and cycling excursion leads from Stříbrnice through Stříbrnické paseky to the nearby Smrďavka recreational area. The Lázně Leopoldov spa facilities are part of this area. The route thus connects the village with another described landscape and serves as a specific starting point for actively exploring the surrounding area.

The Velkomoravská poutní cesta cycling route also passes through Stříbrnické paseky. This route is four kilometers long and follows the original pilgrimage route to Velehrad exactly.
