Discover Nítkovice

Nítkovice combines a heavily forested hilly landscape with traces of a long local history and vibrant local traditions. The municipality lies in the Litenčická pahorkatina on the border of the Vyškov and Kroměříž regions, 24 km southwest of Kroměříž. This makes it a destination where walks, historical discoveries, cycling and insights into local community life come together within a compact thematic area.

Forest Landscape and Routes around Nítkovice

The deep forests around Nítkovice invite you to enjoy relaxing walks. A special natural landmark is Oskeruše u Kozojedska in the cadastral area of Nítkovice. The remarkable tree is protected; its protection zone exists by operation of law. On 4 September 2009, it was 18 metres tall, had a trunk circumference of 303 centimetres and was approximately 100 years old.

Regional Cycle Route 5029 runs west of Nítkovice towards Vyškov–Koryčany. Local cycle paths in the Nítkovice area connect to this route.

History between Hrádek and Kozojedsko

The history begins with the name itself. In 1349, the settlement was initially called Nětkovice; from 1360 onwards, the form Nítkovice became established. A fortress once stood on Hrádek Hill and was mentioned in writing in 1536. Today, therefore, the historical connection is preserved primarily as part of the local history and landscape, not as an indication of a still-existing fortress.

Kozojedsko, first mentioned around 1360, is a district of the municipality of Nítkovice. The Kozojedský dvůr, a Baroque farmstead dating from 1732, stands there. For planning your excursions and accommodation, its current function is important: the farmstead is currently used exclusively for agriculture and keeps poultry and rabbits. The former dairy, joinery, accommodation and inn are no longer in operation. The farmstead is therefore a historic and agriculturally characterised part of the municipality, but not a current accommodation or dining venue.

The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary is also part of the cultural character of the area. Together with the former fortress site, the Baroque farmstead and the development of the place name, it shows how many layers of history come together in this small municipality.

Getting There and Practical Orientation

Nítkovice has no direct railway connection. The nearest railway station is Brankovice in the Vyškov District, approximately 7.5 km as the crow flies from the village centre. It is located on regional line 340 between Brno and Veselí nad Moravou. In addition, Nítkovice is connected to other municipalities by bus routes and has a bus stop. When choosing accommodation, this varying transport access is one of the specific points you can take into account when deciding on a location.

For local supplies, there is the JEDNOTA-COOP grocery shop. Nítkovice also has a seasonally open community inn with a garden under a pergola by the fire-water pond.

Local Traditions and Further Local Research

Various events organised by the local community have taken place every year in Nítkovice for many years. The Gulášfest was held in 2021 and 2022. These two dates document the local festival tradition, but do not provide a future events calendar.
