Ubušínek combines remarkable rural architecture with a landscape that can be explored on foot and by bicycle. The village lies in a gently south-sloping valley within the catchment area of the small Hrabovec stream. The catchment area is the area from which water flows into the small Hrabovec. Particularly appealing is the combination of protected historic farmsteads and specific routes: One hike begins in Ubušínek; of the two cycling routes, one reaches the village, while the other starts there.

Historic farmsteads and seven protected buildings

The Ubušínek village heritage conservation zone comprises seven listed buildings. Kryštofovo stavení has an enclosed courtyard and a first upper floor built at a lower level. Strakova chalupa is an enclosed highland-type farmhouse that was renovated in the second half of the 18th century.

Gregorova usedlost is an enclosed quadrilateral farmstead built predominantly using log construction, with a detached barn as well as wooden sheds, stables, and a sheepfold. A quadrilateral farmstead is a farm complex whose buildings enclose a courtyard on four sides. At Gregorova usedlost, horizontally stacked timbers form the walls. The right-hand main building of Juříkův statek is plastered and built using log construction, stands on a stone base, and has a gabled roof. Particularly striking is the gable with preserved ornamental paintings.

Hiking in the valley and on longer routes

The “Z Ubušínku za výhledy a dobrodružstvím” hike begins in Ubušínek and is slightly more than 15 kilometres long.

Cycling routes with different route characteristics

There are also two different options for a cycling trip. They differ in the types of paths used along their routes. The “Velký okruh Zubří zemí” cycling loop follows cycle route 104 to Ubušín and then takes a turnoff to Ubušínek. The “Cyklovýlet svrateckou hornatinou do CHKO Žďárské vrchy” cycling trip, on the other hand, leads from Ubušínek along an unmarked field path to a green-marked hiking trail. The abbreviation CHKO stands for chráněná krajinná oblast, meaning a landscape protection area. Thus, one route consists of a cycle path section and a turnoff, while the other follows the unmarked field path and then switches to a green-marked hiking trail.

A viewpoint in the surrounding area

In the vicinity of Ubušínek, above Veselí near Dalečín, there is a viewpoint on Na Jedli hill at an elevation of 727 metres. From there, the view extends across the Svratka Valley and to the highest peaks of the Žďárské vrchy. The viewpoint thus combines a view of the valley area with a panorama of the highlands.
