Vysoká Jedle – Hiking, History and Nature

Vysoká Jedle was first mentioned in writing in 1367 and was part of the Hasištejn estate. Historical names for the village included Hochtann, Hohenthannen and Hohenthan. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is a visible link to the local history. Services are once again held regularly in the restored chapel.

The history of the village also includes the road from Ahníkov via Místo to Celná, which opened in 1898. It connected Vysoká Jedle with the outside world and, together with the chapel and craft traditions, provides a glimpse into the former transport link. The former occupations of the residents are also part of Vysoká Jedle’s history. Bobbin lace-making spread here in the 19th century. The residents also made various types of braid. Hike through Birch Groves, Rocks and Waterfalls

The hiking route “From the Birch Groves over Rocks and Waterfalls to Hasištejn” is 9.5 km long and begins in the village square of Vysoká Jedle. After a few metres, it leaves the quiet road and follows a forest path. It then leads through a dense birch grove scattered with numerous boulders. The route length gives you a clear indication of the scale when planning a day of hiking.

After leaving Vysoká Jedle, the hike crosses the Prunéřovský stream and follows the Kýšovický Waterfall. From Vysoká Jedle, at an elevation of 650 m, the view extends as far as the Nechranice Reservoir. The combination of forest, rocks, water and wide views makes the route a particularly tangible experience of nature, while you remain aware of the village as your starting point.

The hike can be reached by bus via the “Místo, Vysoká Jedle” bus stop.
