Discover Veltěže: Culture, Cycling Route and Family Experiences

Veltěže combines local history with activities for children and adults, as well as ideas for excursions into the Czech countryside. The municipality can serve as a starting point for the České středohoří and Žatecko tourism regions. A Neo-Romanesque chapel near the village centre

The Chapel of Saint Florian stands on the district road near the centre of Veltěže. The building is designed in the Neo-Romanesque style. Two semicircular side windows and the walls, divided by pilasters, define its external appearance. This makes the chapel a specific point of interest when exploring the village on foot and getting to know not only its landscape but also its built history.

Traces from different eras

At the site known as Zámeček, a pot containing old coins was found in 1790, along with an old cellar with iron doors nearby. Neolithic stone tools were also discovered in the vicinity of Veltěže, near a mill. In fields southwest of the village, pits and graves from the La Tène culture containing iron artefacts were also identified. These sites add several chronological layers to the local history, from the Stone Age to the historical traditions of Zámeček.

Library, creative club and pony course

The Veltěže library offers borrowing services for children, young people and adults. On Fridays, it hosts the “kroužek šikovných ručiček” club. For children aged 5 to 10, the Exkalibur Veltěže riding club offers a pony course comprising seven lessons. The course includes theoretical and practical parts and complements the cultural offerings with a clearly defined themed experience.

Cycling and regional excursion destinations

The 22-km Louny–Peruc cycling route runs through Černčice, Veltěže, Slavětín, Kystra, Radonice, Pátek and Stradonice to Peruc. The exact route length and the sequence of places help you incorporate this route into your own daily planning without associating the stage with a travel time or a particular level of difficulty. Events and community discoveries

Veltěže’s community programme included an excursion to a spring in a floodplain forest. The Výstava na stromech took place in Veltěže from 5 to 12 October 2024. It is a nationwide exhibition event held every year in October during the Week of Decent Work. The range of documented experiences thus extends from community excursions to an annually recurring exhibition theme.
