Hiking and Cycling in the Oparenské Valley

The picturesque Oparenské Valley is approximately 6 km long and stretches from Malé Žernoseky to Velemín. The excursion through the valley begins in Malé Žernoseky. In the village, the Naučná stezka Lovoš, the yellow hiking trail and cycle route No. 25 run together. The different distance details help you plan the desired focus of your days: the valley offers a longer scenic route, while the trails that run together provide an additional point of orientation for hiking and cycling tours. The approximate length of the valley helps classify the excursion as a longer exploration of the landscape. Educational Trail with History and Discoveries

The Naučné putování skřítka Portáše educational trail comprises 16 stations in the natural and cultural-historical context of 10 municipalities. Three stations are located in Malé Žernoseky. The village station presents local history through the figure of Žernosecký vodník and invites visitors to search for a hidden symbol. The local figure gives the station a connection to the area; the search adds a specific task to the historical information. For a trip combining different interests, this creates a special connection between the landscape, regional history and a specific discovery along the way.

Wine Trails and Tastings

The Litoměřická vinařská stezka is just over 15 km long and runs along both banks of the Elbe. Along the route, you can visit local winemakers and taste their wines. Telephone reservations are required, as with a few exceptions the winemakers are not available without an appointment. Vinařství sv. Tomáše offers wine sales and wine tastings in its wine cellar. Its vineyards are located in the Na Dobraji wine-growing site and partly on the slopes of the Oparenské Valley. The Na Dobraji wine-growing site and the slopes of the Oparenské Valley thus mark two specific landscape contexts of viticulture. The family-run winery cultivates an area of approximately 8 ha. The route, individual visits to winemakers and the wine cellar therefore represent different forms of wine experience, each with its own setting.

Historical Traces in the Village

The Morový kámen commemorates the victims of the plague epidemic of 1680. It is located near the former Císařský mlýn on elevated ground and bears a relief featuring a double cross. This individual monument complements the broader themes of the educational trail and wine trail with a specific historical connection.

Ferry Across the Elbe

The ferry between Malé Žernoseky and Velké Žernoseky transports people and cyclists in a small boat, offering another way to include both places in your travel plans. The small boat complements the trails and wine experiences with its own form of transportation.
