Líšťany: Chapels, Culture and Džbán Nature Park

Líšťany combines religious monuments, historical traces and a location on the northern edge of Džbán Nature Park. Historical Traces Around Líšťany Chateau

The main building of Líšťany Chateau is now in ruins. The complex includes a Renaissance brewery with a preserved semicircular vaulted portal and sgraffiti. This combination of a dilapidated main building and preserved architectural details makes the chateau complex a particularly tangible part of the village’s history.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is registered as a protected cultural monument in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. It was reconsecrated during the pilgrimage celebrations on 25 May 2013. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is also part of a Baroque farmyard at house number 1, which probably dates from the early 18th century. Chapels, Memorial Sites and Religious Tradition

The Chapel of Saints John and Paul stands in an open field on the northwestern edge of the cadastral area. It served as a place for pilgrimage processions. Another chapel on the road to Zeměchy stands on the northern edge of the village and served for religious ceremonies during processions. The different locations—open field, village edge and roadside—give each of these small religious monuments its own spatial character.

Above the municipal office stands a stone cross from the 18th century. It was restored and reconsecrated in 2006. The monument to the victims of the First World War was erected in 1922; next to it stands the Masaryk lime tree, which was declared a commemorative tree in 2018. There is also a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk on a well beside the municipal office. The cross, monument, tree and statue bring several forms of remembrance together within the village area.

Natural Setting, Route and an Announced Date

The cadastral area of Líšťany u Cítolib lies on the northern edge of Džbán Nature Park. If you do not want to focus your stay exclusively on historical topics, this location provides a second geographical point of reference. The 59-kilometre Louny–Křivoklát route passes through Líšľany between Cítoliby and Senkov. The known route length and the places of Cítoliby and Senkov help you place Líšťany within a broader excursion plan without associating the route with a specific walking or driving time.
