Jindřichova Ves combines a multifaceted local history with walks through the village and the surrounding landscape. Historic chapels, the former nail-making trade, and routes to Kamenná hůrka, Jelení vrch, and the Novodomské rašeliniště National Nature Reserve give the place many different facets. A Place with Its Own Craft Tradition

Jindřichova Ves was founded in 1775; Count Heinrich von Rottenhan was involved in its establishment. Originally, the place was a settlement of charcoal burners and forest workers. Other historic occupations included quarrying and forestry. Nail-making was particularly influential: Almost every second house had a nail forge. These apparently produced almost every type of nail, including horseshoe, construction, ship, and railway nails.

The history of the chapels is also part of the village character. In 1892, a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary was built in Jindřichova Ves; it was repaired in 1995. Another architectural reference is the façade of St. Anne’s Chapel, which was repaired and repainted as part of maintenance work. Together with the craft tradition, this creates a village character in which chapels and working history stand side by side. Hiking Beyond Jindřichova Ves

One hike leads through picturesque Jindřichova Ves and then climbs gently to the summit of Kamenná hůrka. The route follows the blue-marked trail along the edge of the Novodomské rašeliniště National Nature Reserve to Jelení vrch. The parking area for this hike is located near the turnoff to Jindřichova Ves, where the road ends.

A hike around Kalek includes a forest path lined with beech trees leading to Jindřichova Ves and its chapel. A historic route of the ridge trail also ran in the sequence Kalek, Načetín, and Jindřichova Ves. Those who want to combine local history and a nature experience will therefore find various thematic approaches here, without equating the individual trails.

Cycling with Different Highlights

In the wider regional area, one cycling tour offers views of Nový rybník, which is considered part of the characteristic landscape of the Ore Mountains. The cycling tour “Na věhlasné poutní místo” leads via Kalek and Načetín; Jindřichova Ves appears there as a district of Načetín. The Kalecký okruh is suitable for beginners and young people. A large part of the route runs on non-public roads and has no steep climbs. When choosing a cycling tour, the highlights can be distinguished: Nový rybník represents the landscape views in the wider area, while the Kalecký okruh has a different route character, with non-public roads and no steep climbs.
