Brodec – Valley, Far-Reaching Views and History

Brodec lies in the valley of Lounské Podlesí and in the Žatec hop-growing region. The village therefore combines a clear connection to the landscape with a history dating back to the first mention of the fortress in 1373. Until around the middle of the 17th century, the settlement was divided into the Brodec manor and the village of Nevězenice, located southwest of it on the right bank of the Klášterský potok. Brodec Fortress was first mentioned in 1373. The historical Brodec estate included a mill, a sheepfold, a brewery and a game preserve. The history of the village therefore extends beyond the fortress and also encompasses the various functions of a former estate.

Near the village square in Brodec stands a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. Cultural and social events were also held annually in Brodec.
