Vysočany combines a distinctive landscape with clearly recognizable traces of regional history. The town is surrounded by the forested hills of the Drahany Highlands. A network of forest roads runs through the woods, suitable for walks. They therefore provide orientation and a documented resting point in connection with the local routes. Another landscape feature is Panská skála, a rock formation in Vysočany. Water and a Tradition in Housko

In Housko, attention turns to the Chapel of the Virgin Mary. It was consecrated on 4 September 1921. Since 1921, there has also been an annual tradition of parishioners gathering at the chapel around the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary for Holy Mass, giving thanks for the community and praying for its future. The Vysočanská pilgrimage takes place at the beginning of July. These recurring dates give the town’s cultural calendar its own rhythm.

Church History with Visible Dates

The history of Housko goes back further. The former Church of the Virgin Mary was probably destroyed during the turmoil of war in the 15th century. It had already burned down in 1493 and was mentioned as abandoned in 1564. The documented history of the present church can be read in the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius: construction began on 2 June 1864, and the church was consecrated on 23 November 1873.
