Vavřinec
Vavřinec lies in a landscape where viewpoints, paths, history and the Moravian Karst are closely connected with individual districts and starting points. The town therefore offers various points of interest for your travel planning: the highest point in the municipality, a path to the ruins of Blansko Castle, a museum in Veselice and the Kateřinská Cave in the area of Suchý and Pustý žleb.
Views and paths around PodvrÅ¡Ã
A particularly clear point of orientation is the Podvršà Lookout Tower. It stands at the highest point of the municipality of Vavřinec, on the 590 m-high Podvršà hill. The viewing platform is 32 m above the foot of the tower and offers panoramic views of the nearby and more distant surroundings. The tower is therefore a specific destination for anyone who would first like to experience Vavřinec through its landscape.
A blue hiking trail runs directly next to the Podvršà Lookout Tower. Cycle route 5116 also runs immediately past the lookout tower. Hikers and cyclists thus find two routes here that pass the same viewpoint. When choosing accommodation, you can consider this area as a possible focus of your trip if views, hiking or cycling are to be the main priorities.
Local history between Veselice and Blansko
In Veselice, the Moravian Karst Beekeeping Museum presents the history of beekeeping in the Moravian Karst. The visitor attraction is operated by the municipality of Vavřinec and complements the landscape experiences with a theme rooted in regional tradition. It is therefore a cultural point of reference in its own right within the municipality, not merely another viewpoint.
Another point of interest is the ruins of Blansko Castle. They are located within the municipality of Vavřinec and can be accessed from Nové Dvory. The path from Nové Dvory to the ruins is lined by the Tereziánská lipová alej. The history of the site also includes the tradition that Blansko Castle was probably founded in the middle of the 12th century. This cautious wording is important: the date of its foundation has not been handed down as a confirmed year.
Cave and protected landscape
Kateřinská Cave is located within the municipality of Vavřinec, in the area of Suchý and Pustý žleb. Blansko is the best starting point for reaching it.
A large part of the municipality of Vavřinec lies directly within the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area. As a result, the protected landscape and individual natural and cultural attractions together form part of the character of the area, without the municipality having to be reduced to just one attraction.
Orientation for your travel planning
The car park by the cultural centre in Veselice can serve as a starting point for exploring Vavřinec. Visitors can also take a hike to get to know the municipality of Vavřinec more closely. Depending on the desired theme of your trip, you can therefore base your search for suitable accommodation on views and trails, history and regional tradition, or the cave and protected landscape area.
