Discover Pamětice: Nature, History and Events
Pamětice combines natural surroundings, village history and lively events within a compact thematic area. The place is particularly suitable for you if, on your journey, you are looking not only for accommodation but also want to combine landscapes, traces of history and regional traditions. Between the Pamětický úval, the chapel of Pamětice, a marked cycling route and various municipal events, there are different points of interest to consider when planning your trip.
Landscape and cycling route around Pamětice
The Pamětický úval is an ecologically significant landscape complex of local biogeographical importance. Another natural area is the forest adjoining the local district of Amerika. It stretches between Vísky, Drválovice, Kladoruby and Letovice and offers tourists opportunities for recreation in nature. Thus, the landscape ranges from a designated ecologically significant complex to a broadly described forest area. Because of its location between Vísky, Drválovice, Kladoruby and Letovice, this natural area extends beyond the immediate local district.
There is also a specific connection with cycling: in Pamětice, you can use the marked cycling route 5476 between Blansko and Horní Poříčí. In the village, it runs along a local road. The two endpoints give the route a regional framework. At the same time, in Pamětice it represents a local section that complements cycling as an independent focus alongside the landscape, village history and events.
Village history and the chapel of Pamětice
Pamětice originated from an old settlement with four square-arranged farmsteads. The name Pamětice derives from the farmer Paměta, who gave the settlement its name in 1145. The chapel of Pamětice stands in the oldest and at the same time central, circular part of the municipality as its most distinctive building. The four square-arranged farmsteads and the circular village centre represent two different spatial forms within the village’s history.
The chapel was ceremonially opened in 1938. From 2000 onwards, it underwent extensive reconstruction; in 2002, its original cast-iron bell was replaced with a new one. For visitors who want to understand the character of a place through its architectural history, the chapel therefore connects the village’s origins with changes from more recent times.
Events and community life
Part of a former sand quarry near Ve Skale was developed as a leisure area and is used for summer sports games and cultural events, particularly dance events. The O Pamětický pohár competition is a firefighting sports competition and part of the Velká cena Blanenska competition.
Local traditions also include Masopust, a traditional masked procession through Pamětice. In the evening, the best masks are awarded in the hall of the cultural centre. The municipal pond fish harvest is an autumn event with generous refreshments and usually takes place on a Saturday. The Pamětice Cultural Centre provides rooms for local cultural and social events.
