Přítluky: Views, Floodplain Landscape and Wine Trails

Přítluky lies at the foot of Přítlucká hora and combines protected floodplain landscape, wide-ranging views, wine traditions and routes for walking and cycling tours. Particularly distinctive is its location in one of the most valuable remaining floodplain areas of the Křivé jezero National Nature Reserve. This gives the village a range of experiences for a trip bringing together nature, culture and excursions in the surrounding area.

Floodplain Landscape and Protected Nature

The Křivé jezero National Nature Reserve includes floodplain meadows, softwood willow and poplar floodplain forests, as well as hardwood floodplain forests. The area is also an important breeding ground for birds of prey: white-tailed eagles breed there irregularly, while red kites do so more regularly. The reserve must not be entered. No marked route leads into the area, and a period of undisturbed quiet must be ensured there to protect rare breeding birds. In Přítluky, nature should therefore primarily be understood as a protected landscape area, not as a freely accessible excursion destination.

Views from Přítlucká hora

A well-documented highlight is the Maják Lookout Tower on Přítlucká hora. Following repairs, it has been open to the public again since 1 September 2025. From the top, views extend across Pálava, the Nové Mlýny reservoirs, the Lednice-Valtice area and the distant Alps. A yellow-marked hiking trail connects Přítluky directly with the Maják Lookout Tower. This makes it possible to combine the village’s location with a specific viewing destination and a marked route through the landscape.

Wine Trails, Cycling and Water

Cyclists will also find two routes in Přítluky. The marked Velkopavlovická wine trail runs from Šakvice via Zaječí, Přítluky, Rakvice, Podivín and Velké Bílovice, continuing onward. The recommended Petra Bezruče cycling route connects Lednice, Bulhary, Přítluky and Zaječí along its section here. Both routes place the village within a wider landscape between wine-growing villages, floodplains and cultural landscapes.

Sport fishing is practised on the lower Nové Mlýny reservoir in the cadastral area of Nové Mlýny, part of the municipality of Přítluky. The lower reservoir also provides opportunities for tourism and recreation. Church, Statues and Living Wine Tradition

The village is home to the Church of St Margaret, dating from 1784 and containing a Gothic core. Next to the church are four listed early Baroque statues: of Saint John of Nepomuk, Saint Vendelin, the Holy Trinity and Saint Florian. Another event strongly connected with the village is Otevřené sklepy Přítluky, held every year at the beginning of July. Free wine tastings are offered in the wine cellars during the event.

Nové Mlýny is also part of the region’s history: to this day, the village is visited by descendants of the Hutterites from around the world, particularly from England and America. This historical connection adds a distinctive international culture of remembrance to the visible heritage of the church, statues and wine-growing tradition.
