Its distinctive feature is its shape: it is a blind karst valley that ends at a rock wall. At Hostěnické propadání, the Hostěnický potok disappears into vertical fissure chasms. The karst here is therefore not merely a general landscape designation, but is evident at a specifically described location with its own geological character.

In the cadastral area of Hostěnice, forest covers the majority of the land, amounting to 1,732 ha; this forest is part of Říčky Nature Park. It is also listed in the state register of immovable cultural monuments.

The two buildings provide different cultural points of reference during a stay in Hostěnice. The Zvonička is directly associated with the village centre and with the year 1877. The Chapel of St. Anne, by contrast, represents a historic building in a forest setting; its construction date of 1748 makes its historical period clear.
