Between Blahoňůvka, forest and local history

Kuřimské Jestřabí lies on the left bank of the Blahoňůvka stream and is surrounded by forests. The village thus combines a clearly recognizable landscape with a history whose oldest written record dates back to 1390. At its center stands a chapel with a bell tower. Its bell was renewed on October 20, 1946, and consecrated as “VÁCLAVÁK.” Anyone traveling through Moravia who wants to discover not only well-known sights but also established village structures will find several specific points of interest here.

The village’s more recent history is also visibly connected with the volunteer fire brigade. It was founded on May 23, 1923, after a major fire broke out in the village on December 2, 1922. This development forms part of the local history and also explains why fire brigade events hold a permanent place in Kuřimské Jestřabí. More than 20 young firefighters from the village regularly take part in competitions in the Tišnovsko area and the Brno-venkov District. The main disciplines include firefighting attack, a 4-by-60-meter relay, knot tying and ZHVB.

Traditions and events in the village

The annual Masopust festival is particularly important to the cultural life of the village. It includes a traditional masked procession through the village, so the celebration is not limited to a single venue but involves Kuřimské Jestřabí itself. The annual events calendar also includes the lighting of the Christmas tree with a St. Nicholas celebration. These events show two different sides of the village: the colorful traditional procession and a seasonal celebration during the wintertime.

A specific example of the fire brigade tradition was the Jestřabská uzlovačka 2026. It took place on March 14, 2026, at the cultural center in Kuřimské Jestřabí. It was attended by 31 teams and 42 individuals from ten fire brigades from the Tišnovsko area.

Pláně Nature Monument and destinations in the surrounding area

To the west of Kuřimské Jestřabí, the protected Pláně Nature Monument lies in the surrounding area. It consists of a rocky slope with thermophilic plants and common juniper. Pláně thus complements the forest-dominated surroundings with a distinctly different type of natural area. Visitors who want to combine cultural impressions with the landscape during their stay can take this contrast into account when choosing other destinations, rather than viewing the village merely as a place to spend the night.

The Cistercian monastery of Porta coeli is also located nearby, in Předklášteří near Tišnov; its history began in 1233. The Gothic Pernštejn Castle, dating from the mid-13th century, also stands in the surrounding area. Pernštejn is considered one of the most important castles in Moravia. Together with the chapel in the village center, this creates a historical arc extending from local religious history to major Moravian cultural monuments.
