Krásensko between history and regional location

Krásensko combines a clearly recognizable local history with a location at the transition between several Czech districts. The village lies at an altitude of 550 m. At the same time, it is situated at the meeting point of three districts: Vyškov is 20 km away, Blansko 19 km and Prostějov 33 km. Krásensko also lies on the border between two regions, Jihomoravský and Olomoucký.

From Schönfeld to Krásné Pole

The first written evidence of the existence of the village of Krásensko dates from 1348; at that time, the German name Schönfeld was used. Written sources were already using the Czech name Krásné Pole for the settlement about 100 years later. The changing historical names make the development of the village particularly tangible and provide a chronological framework for exploring it.

Church, Crafts and Rychta

The local history also includes tangible traces at the church. The gravestone of Kašpar Lukavecký is now located at the church’s side entrance. Saint Lawrence is the patron saint of Krásensko and its church. The production of mother-of-pearl buttons, which became widespread in Krásensko in the first half of the 20th century, provides insight into the area’s economic past. In the 1980s and 1990s, 90% of Krásensko’s inhabitants were weavers.

Another historical landmark is Rychta. Since 2002, it has operated in a historic building of a former manorial farmyard and is also a workplace of South Moravian Lipka for environmental education. Thus, different forms of local memory stand side by side in Krásensko: ecclesiastical evidence, crafts and the use of a historic building for environmental education.

Kojál and the Annual Route to Sloup

Kojál Hill is the defining elevation of Krásensko; a television transmitter stands on it. A recurring event in the annual calendar is the pilgrimage from Krásensko to Sloup, which takes place every year on the last Sunday in August. Connections and Bike Buses

On weekdays, around 14 connections run in both directions from Krásensko to Vyškov and Blansko; there are connections to Brno from there. At weekends, bike buses to Krásensko can be used, and they also carry bicycles.
