Jedovnice – Olšovec, Cycling and Culture

Jedovnice combines Olšovec pond with cycling, hiking routes and cultural and historical discoveries. Olšovec Pond as the Focal Point

Olšovec pond covers 42 hectares. Its dam is 8 m high and 640 m long along the crest. At Olšovec beach, you will find boat and pedal boat rentals as well as slides. From the observation bastion, you can watch the draining of Olšovec and observe the fishermen at work. The pond therefore offers different ways to enjoy a stay by the water: active pursuits, views of the body of water and an insight into the work of the fishermen.

Cycling and Hiking Routes

For cyclists, the base of SINGLETRAIL Moravský kras is located directly at Olšovec pond in Jedovnice. If you prefer to travel on foot, you can start the Rudické propadání and Kolíbky route directly from Jedovnice via the green hiking trail. This means that the starting points differ when planning your day, without needing to equate the cycling and hiking routes.

The route also passes the remains of the former Salmová ironworks from the 18th century, where iron ore was processed. The trail thus combines a nature experience with a historical trace of iron processing.

St. Peter and Paul Church

The present-day St. Peter and Paul Church in Jedovnice was built between 1783 and 1785. However, the foundations of the tower date back to 1681. The church contains an altar by Mikuláš Medek and Jan Koblasa. Outside of services, the church can be visited by prior arrangement with the spiritual administrator. Prior arrangement is therefore essential when planning your cultural visit.
