Čebín between Village History and Panoramic Views

Čebín combines remarkable sacred architecture with a clearly defined landscape experience. The village is home to the Church of St. George, a monumental medieval sacred structure. Its development includes a Romanesque core and late Gothic alterations; the Gothic furnishings include preserved wall paintings in the church interior and valuable fresco paintings in the Gothic presbytery. For those interested in culture, its appeal lies in the combination of older structural elements, later modifications and preserved pictorial decoration. The surviving works form an independent part of the church interior and are not merely an addition to the exterior architecture.

Čebínka and Views across the Landscape

The second focal point lies north of the village: Čebínka Hill is located 1 km north of Čebín and reaches an elevation of 432 m. Its proximity to the village provides a landscape counterpoint to the church. From its viewing platform, there are views of the Moravian Karst, Vysočina and the Boskovice Furrow. These landscapes give the panorama a broad geographical scope and make Čebínka an independent landscape experience alongside the sacred architecture.

The church and Čebínka offer contrasting highlights: St. George’s brings together architecture and visual art in the interior, while the hill opens up height and distant views to the outside. Together, they create an alternation between cultural-historical observation and landscape appreciation.

The lookout tower itself is 38 m high; its viewing platform is located at a height of 30 m. The two figures therefore refer to different parts of the same structure: the total height of the tower and the height of the actual viewing platform.

The path to Čebínka is lined with wooden sculptures, including Sova, Drak, Druid, Volavka, Had, Sparta and Moai. The various motifs accompany the route as a distinct sequence of figures and complement the viewpoint with visible details along the way.

A 10.5-Kilometre Loop between Čebín and Drásov

The “Koniklece a vláčky” walk covers 10.5 km from Čebín via the Čebínka lookout tower and Malhostovická pecka to the garden railway in Drásov, then continues back to Čebín. The route therefore combines a viewpoint, another landscape feature and the garden railway in a loop returning to the starting point.

Tradition and the Planned Connection to Drásov

The village’s character also includes an announced event. The 19th Svatojiřské krojované hody was announced for Čebín from Friday, 25 April, to Sunday, 27 April. The period covers three consecutive days and adds a time-limited event to the local culture.

As part of a project, a 2.89 km long and 3 m wide cycle path was also planned to connect with Drásov. Of this, 1.5 km was intended for the section in Čebín and 1.39 km for Drásov. The planned width of 3 m referred to the connection between the two villages. Thus, the total figure describes the project between Čebín and Drásov, while the two smaller figures are assigned to the respective sections within each village. This connection should be understood as a plan, not as completed or currently available infrastructure.
