Zliv

Zliv combines a waterside location with marked trails, regional culture and a clear railway connection. The town lies on the northwestern shore of the recreational pond Bezdrev. This draws attention to a landscape where swimming, yachting, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and fishing take place. For families who want to choose between water, activities and cultural discoveries while on holiday, Zliv offers several different themes to consider when planning a trip.

The Waterscape Around Zliv

Bezdrev shapes the town’s setting in a distinctive way: Zliv lies directly on its northwestern shore. West of Zliv, the Zlivský rybník pond also borders the town along the railway line. The two bodies of water are therefore specific landscape features that help define Zliv as a destination. Swimming, yachting, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and fishing take place at Bezdrev.

Hiking and Cycling with Various Routes

Several marked hiking and cycling routes run around Bezdrev. These include a circular route across the dam and along the northern shore. There are also routes between Hluboká nad Vltavou, Zliv and Munice. One circular route remains in the vicinity of the body of water, while the connections between Zliv, Hluboká nad Vltavou and Munice emphasize the regional route network.

Zliv can also be explored in greater detail through individual cycling options. The “Včelařská stezka” cycling route passes through Zliv. Another described cycling tour starts in Zliv and follows the shore of Mydlovarský rybník. This route is just over 30 kilometres long and takes two to three hours, depending on your pace. When choosing accommodation, you can therefore consider whether you primarily want to plan a shorter ride by the water, a connection between several towns or a longer cycling tour. The 7th ZLIVSKÝ SPORTOVNÍ DEN also included a pump track activity in its programme.

Church and Local Events

The Church of St. Wenceslas is part of the town’s history. It was built in the Neo-Gothic style and provides a clear cultural focal point within the town. Documented events also show that Zliv is shaped by local competitions and music. On 3 May 2019, the Základní umělecká škola Zliv held the 22nd regional guitar competition showcase, “Zlivská kytara”. Anyone looking for an insight into local cultural events alongside nature experiences will find a specific historical event reference here.

Another example is the Zlivská stovka. This is a fire brigade competition in the 100-metre obstacle race. The fifth edition took place on 22 April 2023 at the SK Zliv stadium. The event is therefore not part of a general description of the town, but represents an independent sporting format with a clear local connection.
